“Pride is still a protest, but it’s also a party, a family reunion, and a promise to the next generation”

Pride in Hull has today issued a rallying call as organisers unveil the first official poster for its 2026 celebration in the city centre and declare that community support has never been more vital.

Under the theme ‘Looking forward, but also back,’ this year’s event will honour the legacy of LGBTQ+ activism in Hull and the wider region, while pushing toward a more inclusive future.

Organisers say the 2026 edition will be one of the most significant in the event’s history. “We’re proud of how far Hull has come, but we know the work is far from over,” said Andy Train, chair of Pride in Hull.

“Rights won over decades are being questioned again in many places. That’s why we need our community – and our allies – more than ever.

“Whether you’ve marched with us for years or have never been to Pride before, we’re asking you to step forward.”

Over the coming weeks, Pride in Hull will release details on:

  • Volunteer sign-ups
  • Fundraising and sponsorship opportunities
  • Parade registration
  • Community stalls and performance slots

For now, the public is urged to share the official 2026 poster widely – digitally and in workplaces, community centres, pubs, and shops across Hull and beyond.

Pride in Hull’s 2026 theme acknowledges key anniversaries and local milestones in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality, including the legacy of Hull’s first Pride events and the ongoing campaign for trans and non‑binary rights.

Organisers are also working with local archives and community historians to ensure the past is not forgotten.
