City host the league leaders in front of the television cameras

The Tigers Trust will host their annual Takeover Day on Easter Monday when Hull City face off against league leaders Coventry City as fifth hosts first in the Championship, in what is a huge opportunity to showcase the terrific work being done in the East Yorkshire community.

Sergej Jakirovic’s players will warm up in shirts adorned with the Trust’s name, which will be auctioned off after the game. They’ll be led out ahead of kick-off by 13-year-old Harry, who fought an astrocytoma brain tumour before being given the all-clear and discharged last September.

Those fans involved in the Tigers Trust disability programme will also be on hand to serve snacks to their fellow supporters from the MKM Tuck Shop in the South Stand, while the front cover of the matchday programme will feature Bruno, Oscar and Andy, three participants of the work done by the award-winning Trust.

Fans will have the opportunity to donate loose change in buckets around the MKM Stadium, or via QR codes, with every single penny having a direct benefit to people of all ages.

“We’re really excited. It’s a massive opportunity for us for our takeover game, and we’ve been doing this for a number of years now, one game a season, and for it to fall when we’re hosting top of the league and we’re fighting for the play-offs ourselves is incredibly exciting,” the Trust’s Rich Dexter tells Hull Live.

“It’s an opportunity to really shine a spotlight on the work that we deliver at the Tigers Trust, as well as shining a spotlight on our work. It’s also a great opportunity for people to get involved and support us through donations on the day, as well, which of course goes such a long way to helping our charity.”

Times are tough for every family, and the Trust are no different with belts everywhere being tightened, but the Trust say even just £1 can make a big difference.

“If someone can put £1 in a bucket, just to give you an idea of the impact that that can make, our social value as an organisation is that for every £1 put in, it generates over £21 in social value.

“As an organisation, last year we turned over £1.7m. That was way over £30 million of difference out into the local community, so whether that’s providing a coach to go and deliver an activity free of charge for people that might need it, or paying a staff member to go into a school and deliver education programs. Literally every pound, every penny that’s put into the organisation does make a huge difference.”

In terms of helping financially at the game or after the game, we’ve got QR codes that are not just on our website but they’ll be visible on the day. We’ve got bucket collections outside the ground, QR codes outside the ground and on the front of the matchday programme, on the big screen at half time.

“That’s an opportunity for people to donate, but as well as donating to kind of create that impact in the local community, everyone who donates through the QR code will also be entered into a draw to win a couple of tickets to the Player of the Year awards at the end of the season.

“Not just helping us but also having an opportunity to win that money can’t buy prize. Beyond the event, there will be an opportunity to donate through that QR code at any period as well.

“Fundraising is so, so important to us and those who do fundraise on our behalf and donate to us, we are incredibly grateful for their support.”
