Junior weighs 21lb and shares his home with Suzi, a tiny Netherland Dwarf who can cuddle under his huge ears

Meet the enormous bunny so large he has his very own room, while his tiny companion loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa beneath one of his whopping ears! Junior is a Continental Giant rabbit, also known as a German Giant, and currently tips the scales at the same weight as three chihuahuas.

Weighing 21lb (more than 9kg), he dwarfs two-year-old Suzi – a Netherland Dwarf rabbit – who weighs just 1lb and a half (less than 1kg) and can comfortably snooze beneath one of Junior’s ears. Devoted animal lover Lyn Hobson, 66, says Junior and Suzi are thoroughly “spoiled”, with their own dedicated room in her home.

Lyn, from North Lincolnshire, said: “They’re spoiled. They’ve got their own little room, they’ve got a sandpit outside which they absolutely love, and tunnels.”

This isn’t Lyn’s first experience with the impressive breed – she previously looked after 20lb Jester before he sadly passed away in 2023. The unlikely duo have been in Lyn’s care for three years, after she rehomed them from a friend in South Shields, and have wanted for nothing ever since.

The pair share their own bedroom, complete with a litter box, and are so well trained they never make a mess. Lyn grows fresh produce for them in her back garden, providing a varied diet of vegetables – sometimes dehydrated – including broccoli, parsnips, carrots and lettuce.

Lyn said: “They never chew anything they’re not supposed to because they’re content.” The biggest chaos only occurs when grooming time arrives, as Junior creates a “mountain” of fur, requiring 45 minutes of brushing every week.

And despite Junior dwarfing Suzi in size, Lyn insists the tiny rabbit calls the shots. She said: “Junior is so laid back, I call him a goofball.

“If Suzi is in his [Junior’s] way he just gently pushes her with his nose, but if it’s the other way around and he is in Suzi’s way then she pounces on him.”

The duo also enjoy snuggling up on the settee while watching football and supporting Liverpool. Suzi and Junior have also supported various charities, with Lyn serving as an ambassador to help promote several animal welfare charities and rescue centres.

She said: “They like any football to be fair. They’ve got their own little sofa. He (Junior) puts his long ear over Suzi.”
