“To date, we have arrested and interviewed four suspects who are involved in the maintantence at Eden Park”

The inquest into the deaths of two teenagers at a holiday park in East Yorkshire has been opened. This comes as Humberside Police confirms it has arrested a fourth person in connection with the incident.

Cherish Bean, 15, and Ethan Harry Slater, 17, died on 18 February 2026 at Little Eden Holiday Park in Carnaby, Bridlington. Opening the inquest, Prof Paul Marks, senior coroner for the East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull, said the family had spent the night together and both Ethan and Cherish were “fit and well”.

Later, they returned to Cabin 31, known as ‘The Man Cave’, to watch TV “at a similar time”. During the night, Cherish “complained of a headache” and her mother gave her some Calpol, Prof Marks said. Her last words to her mother were, “Goodnight I love you”.

Giving evidence, DCI Ben Robinson, the senior investigating officer, said: “To date, we have arrested and interviewed four suspects who are involved in the maintanence at Eden Park.”

He said the force had “spoken to numerous persons who have stayed at Little Eden Park” and “conducted house to house enquiries”. He said family liaison officers were working closely with the families of both teenagers.

DCI Ben Robinson said Humberside Police was conducting a gross negligence manslaughter investigation, with the force working closely with the Health and Safety Executive, gas safety experts, and the National Crime Agency.

All four suspects have been released on bail. The medical causes of Ethan and Cherish’s deaths are pending the investigation of the forensic pathologist, but DCI Robinson said carbon monoxide poisoning remained a “primary line of inquiry”.

The families of the teenagers previously paid tribute to them. Cherish’s mum said: “My girl, my world, my love, my everything. My perfect girl, my angel, has left this world and we are broken as a family. I am broken as a mother, and I will never ever be the same again.

“If you know me, I live and breathe my babies, and we were away for a few nights making the best memories ever. We have had the best life together and it has been ripped from under us.

“There are no words, I am shattered and will never recover. Hug your children tonight, you do not know how lucky you are.

“Ethan, bless you darling, such a good boy with a kind heart and I loved you like my own. I am broken. Please respect us whilst we grieve.”

Paying tribute to Ethan, his mum said: “Ethan was the most beautiful young man to walk the earth. He was generous, loving, charming and kind.

“He would help anyone and was a strong family man. He took care of himself and loved his Mum, Stepdad, brothers and sister.

“There’s not one person who would dislike him even if they tried. His smile was contagious, and he could light up any room he walked into.

“Ethan, you will always be remembered for the amazing young man you were, and the one you were destined to be. We hope you know how loved you are, our boy; rest well and keep the table warm for us up there.

“Cherish was the apple of Ethan’s eye, everyone could see how smitten they both were. She was beautiful, elegant, and made Ethan happy. We know you will keep each other young and safe. Look after each other. Rest in peace.”

Ethan’s dad added: “I am a broken man without you son. I will love you eternally my boy. You were taken way too soon from me. Love you always.”

Prof Paul Marks expressed his condolences for both families. He said the inquest into the deaths of Ethan and Cherish will continue, pending the outcome of the police investigation which takes precedent.
