The takeaway noodle outlet has been operating in Hull since 2013

A longstanding noodle bar and takeaway in Hull city centre has closed its doors. Wok & Go has been a notable part of the fast food scene since it arrived in the city in 2013.

St Stephen’s Shopping Centre has confirmed that the lease has been formally terminated. The takeaway did not open on Wednesday, January 21. It has been closed ever since.

On the Wok & Go website, it still shows the Hull site as one of the open locations. However, Hull Live understands that the closure in St Stephen’s is permanent and there is no plan to reopen in that location.

A previous unscheduled – but temporary – closure this month was due to a separate issue following a visit from Hull City Council food hygiene inspectors. The business shut on Friday, January 16, then reopened on Monday.

The management of Wok & Go voluntarily closed the premises for cleaning over the weekend. It was operating as normal following a revisit from council staff on Monday, only to close again when the lease was terminated just days later.

At the time, a spokesperson for the Council said: “Management at the premises voluntarily closed to undertake a deep clean following council officers’ visit last week.

“Officers visited again on Monday 19 January and standards had improved sufficiently to allow food service once again.”

Wok & Go also has outlets in Bangor, Belfast, Birmingham, Canning Town, Chester Foregate, Ellesmere Port, Harrow, Liverpool, Nottingham Pelham, Shoreditch, and Uxbridge.

According to its website, Wok & Go was inspired by the “taste, aromas and overall experience of Asian dining in New York City”.
