The pair will meet in their re-arranged game later this year

Hull City’s huge showdown with Ipswich Town at Portman Road will now take place in March after the orignal game was postponed because of FA Cup fourth round weekend.

City, who sit level on points with the Tractor Boys in the Championship table, will now head to Suffolk on Tuesday, March 3, with the game kicking off at 7:45pm.

Sergej Jakirovic’s in-form Tigers were due to tackle the Tractor Boys on Valentine’s Day, but they’ll now be welcoming Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea to the MKM Stadium the night before, while on the same night, Kieran McKenna’s men will face Wrexham at The Racecourse.

The trip to Portman Road comes on the back of the long trek to Portsmouth on the final weekend of February, and kicks off a crucial period in March before the international break.

After tackling Town, City will host another promotion rival in Millwall on March 7, before trips to Wrexham and West Brom on the 10th and 14th, respectively. The month is rounded off with a Yorkshire derby against stricken Sheffield Wednesday on March 21, with the international break following that clash against the Owls in East Yorkshire.

Town were 2-0 winners at the MKM Stadium when the pair met in late November, but since that game, the Tigers have won eight of the 11 they’ve played since then. No team in the league have claimed more points in that spell than City, who sit fourth in the Championship and level on points with Ipswich in third.

Both clubs have reached the 50-point mark, but Town’s superior goal difference means it is they who occupy third spot, with both teams five adrift of Boro in second, though both have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, City have been allocated more tickets for this weekend’s trip to Blackburn Rovers. The Tigers’ initial allocation of 2,000 sold out, and more are now available.
