The Tigers face Swansea City looking for their first home league win of the New Year

Hull City have been praised for being many things this season, but in the aftermath of their dismantling of Preston North End on Tuesday night the buzz word was – relentless.

Right until the last kick, with City already 3-0 up and the game long since won, Sergej Jakirovic’s men were racing around the pitch, roaring into tackles as if it were the first minute, not the final one.

After wins on the road at Southampton and Deepdale, City now return to the MKM Stadium for the first of five home games in the next six Championship outings with Swansea City the visitors.

City are fourth in the league and have a five point cushion now to the chasing pack outside the top six and could close the gap on the top two to just two points with a victory that would see them surpass last season’s entire total.

Winger Liam Millar, who was one of the chief protaganists in Lancashire with the opening goal against his former club, believes seeing City flourish has come as a little surprise.

“I’ve always believed in us,” the Canadian told Hull Live. “I’ve always thought that we had a good team to be where we are and I think that we’re just continuing to just prove it, to prove that we’re a good team.

“We’ve done really well away from home. We’ve done well at home as well considering where we were last year, and, yeah, I think overall we’ve just been doing really well. We’ve just got to keep that up and not get complacent and just keep pushing away.

“Listen, I think we just need to stay consistent. That’s the biggest thing. We played really well at Southampton, really well against Preston and we’ve just got to keep that up against Swansea.

“The hardest thing in football is to be consistent, isn’t it? The more consistent we can be, the better chance we have of being in and around the top of the table, so that’s what we’ve got to do.”
