Adding more trusted sources means you’ll see even more exclusives, breaking stories and top-tier content across Google.
Will I still see news from other publishers?
Yes. You will still be able to see other news from a wide range of publishers. You can also manage or change your preferred sources at any time.
Choosing a specific site as a preferred source simply means you’ll see more stories from that publisher, either more often in Top Stories or in a dedicated “From your sources” section on the search results page. However, it won’t limit the rest of your feed.
What if I can’t see the Preferred Sources Icon?
If you can’t see the Preferred Sources Icon, there are a few simple things to check.
- Make sure you’re signed in: Preferred Sources are linked to your Google account, so check you’re logged in, then refresh the page.
- Try searching a different news topic: The Top Stories box only appears for topics with recent news coverage, so searching something timely can help.
- Update the Google app: If you’re using mobile, make sure you’ve got the latest version of the Google app installed, then try again.
