Residents at Cottingham Manor Care Home enjoyed a magical festive experience this week as they were taken out on a horse-drawn carriage ride. The one-of-a-kind experience brought Christmas cheer and smiles all round.
The special outing was organised by Events Lead Joanne Golden to surprise residents and add an extra sparkle to the day. Residents enjoyed the gentle carriage ride, festive atmosphere and opportunity to share laughter and conversation.
For many residents, the experience sparked fond memories of Christmases past, while others enjoyed the novelty of a traditional carriage ride for the very first time. Staff described the day as joyful, emotional and full of festive spirit.
Joanne Golden said: “Creating moments like this is so important. Seeing the residents smile, laugh and truly enjoy the experience reminds us why we do what we do. Christmas is about togetherness, joy and creating memories — and today was very special.”
The event forms part of Cottingham Manor’s festive programme, focused on meaningful, person-centred activities that support residents’ wellbeing and happiness. Joanne thanked Jamesy Taylor from Once Upon A Time horse and carriage.
