BBC Look North presenter Peter Levy donned his best Del Boy outfit to give away a collection of mugs featured on the show.
Earlier this year, the broadcaster invited community groups, charities and sports club to take part in his “Mug of the Day” initiative, with the branded mugs getting a moment in the spotlight on prime-time television.
After amassing a large collection of mugs, Levy announced he would be giving them away at Walton Street Market in Hull, with any donations going to BBC Children in Need.
In true Del Boy fashion, Levy handed out the goodies from the back of his red Ford Fiesta.
Talking about how it all came about, he said: “I asked the boss of Radio Humberside if we could have a Radio Humberside mug to put on the table occasionally, and a Look North mug, which I did.
“Groups then started asking for their mugs to be on the telly.”
He added: “All the best ideas happen by accident.”
As part of the segment, which started in the spring, Levy said: “There’s been a different mug on the telly every single day.
“Where else would they get a plug on BBC One?”
Down at the market, Levy said he had been delighted with the response from shoppers.
While the mugs were given away, there was a “lot of generosity” from people braving the cold and donating to the Children in Need appeal.
“It’s all gone swimmingly, or ‘cushty’ as Del Boy would say,” Levy added.
Back in September, the broadcaster celebrated two major milestones – his 70th birthday and 50 years in broadcasting.
He recently made headlines when he asked Look North viewers whether they had put their Christmas trees up.
He struggled to contain his laughter after saying: “Mine’s only a small one, but it did go up this weekend.”
