Recycling initiative helps to raise awareness and funds for the Hull hospice

This Christmas will see the return of Dove House Hospice’s Christmas tree recycling appeal. Partnering with national organisation, Just Helping, the initiative aims to engage with residents and allow them to dispose of their Christmas trees in an eco-friendly manner.

On Thursday and Friday, January 8 and 9, 2026, residents in the HU5, HU7, HU8, HU12 and HU17 postcode areas can have their real Christmas tree collected in return for a donation to the hospice. First they will need to have registered for the service.

This is taking place now until Monday, January 5, 2026. Tiff Brodie, community fundraiser at Dove House Hospice, said: “Residents can simply leave their real Christmas trees at the top of their drive or in their front garden and our team of amazing corporate volunteers will collect it directly and recycle it sustainably.

“Support of this kind from the local community is greatly valued by all at the hospice and essential to help Dove House Hospice continue to provide the vital care for many people in Hull and East Yorkshire.” To sign up to this year’s Christmas tree recycling appeal, you can visit www.just-helping.org.uk or call the Dove House Hospice fundraising team on 01482 785743.

The initiative helps to raise thousands of pounds each year towards the essential services provided by Dove House, which is based in Chamberlain Road, east Hull. The hospice serves the whole of the East Riding of Yorkshire region and for over 40 years has been providing specialist personalised care for adults living with a life limiting diagnosis and those approaching the very end of their lives.
