The Tigers welcome back another player this week
Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic was toasting the return of another body to his squad this week with the hope things will ease further in the coming days as a long injury list gets shorter.
Having been able to call upon Oli McBurnie, Liam Millar and Mo Belloumi once again this week with all three featuring against Wrexham on Wednesday night, Jakirovic has now welcomed back Codey Drameh to the first team squad after a couple of weeks on the sidelines.
With the likes of Joe Gelhardt, John Lundstram, Kasey Palmer and Eliot Matazo still sidelined, City’s injury woes have not disappeared by any stretch, but what was a long list is now getting smaller each week week with Drameh’s return another positive step forward.
Lundstram remains on course for a Boxing Day return to action at Sheffield Wednesday, with Jakirovic revealing Gelhardt is now firmly into his rehabilitation process.
“There’s no new injuries. Cody Drameh is back,” said Jakirovic. “He will be available for this game. And he will travel with us. And that’s it.
“With John Lundstram, we are aiming for 26th December; Sheffield Wednesday away. That’s the target. I hope he will be with us. Joffy is on therapy. So we will see the development of his injury.”
Belloumi’s return to the starting line-up in midweek was a welcome sight after a run of games on the bench, while McBurnie and Millar’s availability was a significant fillip for the squad.
Having seen McBurnie make a goal-scoring return to action and with Millar looking sharp also against Wrexham, Jakirovic was asked whether the pair have a chance of starting against Millwall.
He explained; “It is a very short period between the two games so we didn’t do anything Thursday except recovery and today we had a very easy training session. We will decide tomorrow who will start, but they are both available and are feeling fine.”
On the condition of Regan S;ater, who was spotted hobbling after the midweek win, Jakirovic said; “Regan is good. He was almost perfect on Wednesday, he was fantastic and was all over the pitch winning first and second balls. Right now he is in very good form. He is fine to play.”
