Patrington Haven Leisure Park has made a series of upgrades including rainfall showers
An award-winning East Yorkshire holiday park that was devastated by fire has reopened its pool and health suites after extensive work. Patrington Haven Leisure Park has launched its upgraded facilities in what it says is a major milestone in bringing the countryside park back to life following last year’s blaze which tore through much of the site.
The newly revamped facilities include a heated swimming pool, steam room, sauna, rainfall showers, a whirlpool, a ‘chill bucket’, a cold room and relaxation zones. Patrington bosses say the measures create a “premium, resort-style environment for caravan owners.”
Investment has also gone into a high-efficiency filtration and air-handling system that dramatically reduces energy consumption. There are also now solar panels installed on the roof in an effort to make the site greener and more energy efficient.
Guy Sparkes, director at Patrington Haven Leisure Park, said: “Rising from the devastation of the fire, we’ve transformed the Country Club into something truly exceptional. With upgraded leisure facilities and sustainable systems like energy-efficient filtration and solar power, we’re creating a space where owners, members and families can relax, recharge, and enjoy a greener, more responsible experience.”
Fire broke out at the park on April 22, 2024 and caused extensive smoke and water damage in most areas apart from its gym. The pool area suffered particularely, partly because fire crews had to pump water from it to douse the flames.
Earlier this year, East Riding Council approved plans to develop heavily damaged parts of the site and those lost in the fire. And in the summer, Patrington Haven’s owners revealed a £4.1m transformation of its Country Club.
The works included rebuilding of the Country Club with new interiors that take cues from luxury destinations such as The Ivy. Guy’s Bar and Restaurant, The Gallery Coffee Lounge and even robot servers to bring guests snacks and drinks, make up the refurbished venue.
The wider Holderness site extends to about 16 hectares and is home to hundreds of caravans and some holiday lodges. It lies about 2km south west of the village of Patrington.
