An injury update ahead of Saturday’s trip to Chelsea
Sergej Jakirovic has confirmed that Hull City will be heading to Chelsea without any fresh injury concerns.
The Tigers were without Brooke Norton-Cuffy on Tuesday night at the Stadium of Light for their Carabao Cup clash in Sunderland after reporting a calf concern.
However, the right-back has been cleared to play and he could be involved alongside the likes of John Egan, who took a knock in the closing stages of the contest with the Black Cats. As Jakirovic confirmed on Tuesday night, Paddy McNair is fit, too, after dealing with a metatarsal injury.
“Still Morita, Charlie Hughes but I think that’s it,” Jakirovic said when asked who could be set to miss the game this week. “Cuffy is fine after a scan, Paddy McNair is fine.
“Some problems after the Sunderland game but nothing special and they will be available for the game.
“Norton-Cuffy felt his calf after the game against Aston Villa. The next day we sent him for a scan and the scan said there was nothing. He felt something off the ball. He didn’t feel good with his calf and we took precaution.
“I am sorry we didn’t use him against Sunderland because it would have been good but also it’s very good that he stays healthy because we need every player, especially in this position and sometimes we are short in this position.
“John is OK, he trained normally today.”
Deadline day signing Tim Iroegbunam is one who will be looking to make his debut for the club this week after sitting out of last Saturday’s draw with Aston Villa and the Cup clash due to the injury he picked up while at Everton in pre-season.
“Tim trained normally today,” Jakirovic added. “That was the plan that he stayed at home, that he do a good session. It’s about fitness and today he is good so he is available.
“He had the injury and Everton sent us the GPS after the injury, we saw there was not so many kilometres so we have to push there. After the injury this is normal. It’s everything by the plan.”
