The Tigers have tied down six fan favourites in a huge boost for the club

Hull City have confirmed new contracts for six of last season’s promotion-winning heroes, with the club striving to reward those who got the Tigers to the Premier League.

Matt Crooks, John Egan, Mo Belloumi, Oli McBurnie, Charlie Hughes and Regan Slater have all put pen to paper on new terms with the club in what caps a remarkable week for the club.

The Tigers not only picked up their second Premier League win of the season on Saturday, but they managed to follow that up with six new arrivals on deadline day and now they have rewarded half a dozen fan favourites with new deals.

McBurnie joined the club on a free transfer from Las Palmas last summer before going on to score the goal that won promotion at Wembley in May after a remarkable season.

He has signed a new three-year contract with the club holding the option of another year.

Slater has also penned a new three-year deal with the club holding the option and that ensures he is tied down with City until the summer of 2029 at least.

The midfielder joined Hull on an initial loan in September 2020 before joining permanently in January 2022 and he has now made 234 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Hughes, who is now in his third season with City after joining from Wigan Athletic in August 2024, is another who has signed a new three year deal, with the same option as the above.

Belloumi has a new three-year deal, too, ensuring the Algerian winger will be with City until 2029.

Crooks and Egan have both agreed two-year deals with the Tigers, again, with the club having the option of a further year. Both men have become huge fan favourites since joining the club in the 2024-25 winter transfer window and they played key roles during the promotion campaign.

Egan in particular has been excellent this season, too, playing in the middle of Sergej Jakirovic’s back three and marshalling his back line well.

Speaking of his new deal, McBurnie outlined his desire to retire at the club said: “When we spoke in the summer, it was quite an easy deal to get done and it was a no-brainer on my side. Me and my family are so settled here and my kids love being back home as well as my fiancé, so it was a no-brainer for me and ready to attack this year.

“It genuinely was an easy decision for me. The way the fans have taken to me and my family ever since I have been here has made me feel so welcome since day one, and the lads and staff have been the same, along with the chairman and boss.

“It was an easy decision as I spoke to my agent; it was quite a quick one for us. I am just really delighted the club have shown their faith in me once again, like they did last summer, and hopefully I can repay them again like I did last season.

“I can honestly say it is a place that I would like to finish my career here. It has been a great year and last year with the boys is one of those things that no matter what happens in our career, we’ll always be able to have that. No one can ever take that away from us, so I am really proud to be a part of that team and hopefully we can do something special this year.”

Crooks added: “There was more push from me than there was from the club to be fair! I have had a great time here so far, getting to know all the lads, the staff and the people around the place. I haven’t got anything but good things to say. It’s been successful and long may it continue.

“We’re a real tight-knit group and we’ve had more additions this year, but we still have a good core and the new additions have been great so far. From my side of things, it was a no-brainer!

“The last 18 months and especially the last 12 months are some of the best I have had in football. Last season was a real high for me and for the club in general. On a personal note, it was probably the best moment in my career (to win promotion).

“The supporters have been great with the team and with me as well. I now just want to help the team the best I can, in any which way I can. It is something to enjoy; the privilege and pressure of playing in the Premier League.”
