To say Mourgue has had a disrupted season this year would be an understatement

Willie Peters has issued a message to Arthur Mourgue as the Hull KR full-back strives to find form at the end of what has been a disrupted season.

Mourgue has made nine appearances for the Robins this season, with injury preventing the Frenchman from being able to make any sort of significant progress in a Robins shirt.

Indeed, Mourgue injured his pec in the World Club Challenge win over Brisbane Broncos and was forced to go under the knife. He returned to action in May against Leigh Leopards and picked up a similar injury in that game, before ultimately stepping back into the fold to feature at Warrington Wolves in round 19.

A broken thumb, picked up in the derby win over Hull FC ruled him out for another month before returning to take on Warrington Wolves last month.

The hope is then that after such a difficult season, Mourgue can end the campaign well, take KR to the play-offs and head into them with a little bit of confidence and form under his belt.

“Just keep playing,” Peters said when asked what he wanted from Mourgue. “What I liked about him the other day was more his defence.

“He’s had a double pec injury, and his wrist, that can impact you physically. I saw some good, positive signs last week around his defence, and taking the line on. “When his defence is in order and he’s taking the line on, then usually everything else looks after itself.

“It’s just great to see him back out there. I want to see him run the ball, because that’s his strength, and make his tackles which he did on the weekend and enjoy the physical part of the game. When he’s doing that, for a small guy, usually good things happen off the back of that.”
