Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said the incident has been labelled as ‘accidental ignition’

Two houses have been badly damaged in a fire which broke out during in the early hours of Friday morning. Burned roof timbers and huge holes can be seen across the adjoining homes at Marsden Landing in Hull.
Humberside Fire confirmed it had been called out to the scene at 1.37am on Friday morning after reports of a house on fire. The flames spread to the neighbouring house prompting rescue chiefs to send four fire engines to the scene.
The occupants of the houses escaped to safety, with fire crews only departing at 5am this morning. The scene of devastation follows a wild night of thunder and lightning across East Yorkshire, with residents reporting loud bangs.
A spokesperson for Humberside Fire said: “We received a call at 1.37am this morning (28 August) reporting a house fire on Marsden Landing in Hull. In total, we sent four fire engines, as the fire in the roof had spread to an adjacent property. Thankfully, both properties had working smoke alarms, which sounded and alerted the occupiers, allowing them to get out safely.
“Our firefighters left the incident by 5am. Incident has been labelled as accidental ignition.”
