Burglar jailed for three years

1. A burglar who raided a house in Hull helped himself to a safe, containing £12,000 cash, and stole two vehicles after finding the keys to them inside the property.
2. Kai Donkin, 43, of no fixed address, but recently in custody on remand, was brought before Hull Crown Court for sentence after earlier entering guilty pleas to a series of charges brought against him.
3. He admitted burglary of a house in Summergangs Road, east Hull, between March 10 and 13.
4. The haul included a safe and its contents, including £12,000 cash, personal effects, a Ted Baker purse and its contents, a bottle of Tottenham Hotspur wine and silver commemorative coins.
5. Also taken during the burglary were the keys to a Nissan Qashqai vehicle and a Renault van.
6. Donkin, of Hull, also admitted stealing the Nissan Qashqai vehicle, belonging to a woman, and stealing the Renault Trafic van, belonging to a man, between the same dates.
7. He admitted theft from the van, involving stealing work tools, clothes and personal items, on March 12.
8. The guilty pleas were entered at a hearing on July 7, when the case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared. He had been remanded in custody that day.
9. Donkin was jailed for three years for the burglary. There were no separate penalties for the other offences.
