A 31 year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries following a stabbing on Carr Lane in Hull city centre. Police say the victim is in a stable condition following the serious assault which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Detectives from Humberside Police are now appealing for information as they launch an investigation into the incident, which they believe to have involved two men known to each other. On Sunday, officers could be seen manning the cordon that had been put in place between the junction with South Street and just beyond the entrance to Primark on Carr Lane.
Detective Inspector Ben Harmer, who is leading the investigation, said: “In the early hours of this morning (Sunday, August 23) at around 4.30am we were called to reports of a man sustaining serious stab wounds in a commercial premises on Carr Lane. Emergency services attended the scene, and a 31-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries which are not thought to be life threatening, he remains at hospital receiving treatment in a stable condition
“Extensive enquiries remain ongoing including gathering CCTV footage from around the area and speaking to witnesses at the scene, a scene guard was put in place but this has since been lifted and the local community can expect an increased police presence whilst enquires remain ongoing.
“The investigation remains in the early stages, and work remains ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and identify anyone involved. At this time, I can confirm that we believe this to have been an incident between two men known to each other prior to the incident.”
Det Insp Harmer appealed to anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the report to come forward. He advised those to do so via the non-emergency number 101 quoting log 97 of August 23, 2026.
