Hull FC have confirmed another new recruit.

Alrix Da Costa is out to ‘achieve something great’ at Hull FC next season, with the Frenchman swapping Catalans Dragons for the East Yorkshire club on a two-year deal.
Da Costa will work in tandem with Denive Balmforth in the hooking position next season, with the 28-year-old set to reunite with former coach Steve McNamara, who he worked with in Perpignan for several years, including a 2018 Challenge Cup success and Super League Grand Final appearances in 2021 and 2023.
Debuting for Catalans in 2016, Da Costa has made over 160 appearances for the French club and will ply his trade in West Hull until the end of 2028. He is the club’s third new confirmed recruit after Bailey Hodgson and Daly Cherry-Evans, with more in the pipeline, from Isaac Liu to Jordan Swann, as Hull ring the changes under their incoming head coach.
“I’m aware of the work happening at Hull and how big the club is, so I want to work hard for the team and the club under Steve,” Da Costa said on his move to Hull. “It’s time for something new after spending more than 10 great years with Catalans. This is a challenge I am really excited about.
“I’m positive that we can achieve something great at Hull FC. I’m looking forward to coming over to England to meet everybody and I can’t wait to start.”
Da Costa will link up with French teammate Arthur Romano at Hull next year, who swapped Catalans for the Black and Whites ahead of this season. But it’s the link to McNamara that CEO Richie Myler is most excited about.
“Alrix is a player that Steve McNamara knows all too well, having coached him at Catalans for a number of years,” Myler added. “We know that we are getting a really hard-working individual in Alrix, and ultimately, he’s someone with over ten years of Super League experience, which is invaluable in the current market.
“He’s the latest part in the puzzle as far as our club for 2027 looks, and we’re all looking forward to him coming over to Hull for the start of pre-season training in the next few months.”
