Could your home be the perfect sanctuary for an abandoned greyhound needing end-of-life care? RSPCA Hull & East Riding is trying to find a final home for Flick, who is receiving palliative care. The charity says she deserves a family and a warm, comfy sofa where she can spend her final days.
The charity urgently looking for a “very special person” to provide an end-of-life foster home for Flick, who is 10 and was found abandoned with her companion, Frank. Over the weekend, Frank’s health deteriorated, and RSPCA Hull & East Riding decided it was the kindest decision to put him to sleep. Flick is also terminally ill.
The charity describes Flick as a “beautiful, affectionate girl”, and said it “would love nothing more than for her to spend her remaining time in the comfort of a home rather than in kennels”. Flick is deaf and partially blind, so she will need “a safe, secure garden where she can enjoy gentle potters and plenty of sniffing”, the charity said. She may be able to live with another calm, older dog, but she’s too old and poorly for boisterous play.
A post on the RSPCA Facebook page said: “We simply want Flick to experience the love, comfort and warmth of a home, a comfy sofa, and a family to care for her during her final days. As this is an end-of-life foster placement, we will discuss Flick’s medical needs and the support we can provide with anyone interested in helping. All veterinary costs, food, bedding and any other essentials will be provided by us, so you can focus on giving Flick the love and comfort she deserves.”
