Labrador-cross Polly has been waiting for a year-and-a-half
Hull Animal Welfare Trust (HAWT) is hoping to find a new home for rescue dog Polly, who found herself in the stray kennels and has been looking for a loving owner for a year-and-a-half. In the time she has been with the charity, Polly, a large Labrador-cross, aged six, has sadly had no interest shown in her at all.
A spokesperson for HAWT said: “Like many rescue dogs, Polly can be a little wary of new people and unfamiliar dogs. However, since being with us she has been following a training plan and has made amazing progress.
“Her confidence has grown so much, and with a little time, patience and reassurance she continues to show just how far she can go. Once you’ve earned her trust, you’ll discover she is the sweetest, most affectionate companion.
“She is a cuddle bug who loves snuggling with her favourite people. When it comes to play time, tennis balls are her absolute favourite – a game of fetch is guaranteed to bring out her happy, playful side.
“We’re looking for a calm, committed home that will continue to build the fantastic progress she’s already made. In return, you’ll gain a loyal best friend.”
Polly’s person will need to be able to give her some time and understanding to feel secure. She can be a little wary initially, when meeting new people, so she will require an understanding home with previous dog experience, but no other dog in the household.
As she has an unknown history, HAWT cannot rehome her with resident or visiting young children, although a home with dog-savvy children of 16 years and upwards would be considered. While she has shown she is not always comfortable around other dogs, Polly can walk happily alongside some dogs when she has had a slow and gradual introduction to them over a period of days.
A home with no cats in residence is also needed for Polly and her charity profile concludes her ideal home will have “previous experience and lots of love”. If you feel that you can provide Polly with an experienced and loving home where she can gain confidence and feel secure, HAWT would love to hear from you.
