It’s that time of year once again, where transfers are dominating the domestic agenda despite the World Cup happening in Mexico, Canada and the USA.
For Hull City, things are hotting up as the Tigers look to move players out and bring players in, ahead of their first Premier League campaign in a decade. City are ramping up their business with the players due back in pre-season training in less than two weeks.
Here’s a look at the latest goings on in the market and around football…
Fenerbahce star ‘flirting’ with Hull City
According to reports in Turkey, Anderson Talisca is catching the eye of the Tigers. The 32-year-old attacking midfielder only extended his contract with the Istanbul giants in February, with that running for another two years, but reports keep surfacing about a potential move to the MKM Stadium following the Tigers’ promotion, with a suggestion of a ‘flirtation’ between the two parties. Last term, the ex-Benfica and Besiktas star scored 27 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for Fener.
Elder’s an Imp
Callum Elder, who played a huge role in helping City win promotion back to the Championship in 2021, has joined newly-promoted Lincoln City on a two-year deal. The Australian left-back was released by Derby County in the summer, but will now turn out for the Imps back in the second tier.
“The football club has made fantastic progress over the past 12 months, both on and off the pitch, so it’s an exciting time to join Lincoln City, and I’m really pleased to be here,” Elder explained after sealing his move to Sincil Bank.
“I had some really good conversations with Chris Cohen and Tom Shaw. You could see their commitment to the project, their attention to detail, and their belief in what the club is trying to build. For them to believe that I am someone who can help to take the club forward is really exciting for me. I can’t wait to give everything I have to help achieve that.”

Tractor Boys trying for Emersonn
The Tigers want to sign the 21-year-old Brazilian striker from French club Toulouse, but face competition. One of those clubs chasing the forward is said to be Ipswich Town, who, like City, are preparing for life back in the Premier League. Sky Sports claim Town, now under the stewardship of Gary O’Neil, are battling the Tigers for his signature.
No Gremio deal
Reports in Brazil claim City have been unable to strike a deal for talented youngster Gabriel Mec. The Tigers are reported to have lodged a bid worth in the region of £10m, with Gremio wanting closer to £17m. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder was previously compared to Vini Jnr, and has been linked to other Premier League clubs, including Nottingham Forest and Brentford.
Former Tiger nets deal
Harry Vaughan was released by City at the end of the season, and now the playmaker has penned a deal with Bohemian FC in Ireland until the end of their current season. The 22-year-old ended the English season with Bohs’, and will now remain in Dublin for the remainder of the campaign.
“I’m absolutely delighted to re-sign for Bohs. Ever since I’ve come in, it’s felt like a second home to me. I love all the lads here and feel really settled, and I’m really enjoying my football,” Vaughan said.
“The fans have made my choice to stay much easier as they have shown so much love and support to the team and myself in this first half of the season and ultimately have made my mind up for me.
“These next couple of months look so exciting for the team, with Europe to look forward to and I can’t wait to see what the second half of the season brings. I hope we can really push on now and bring success to this football club because that’s what everyone involved deserves.”
Lincoln’s gone to the Croc
Former City loanee, Lincoln Henrique, has joined Bursaspor as they prepare for life in the Turkish first division following promotion last term. The former Tiger ended last season in Portugal with Alverca. Ex-Stoke City man Lewis Baker has also joined the Crocodiles. The club have sold 39,000 season tickets at the iconic stadium where City played a friendly a couple of years ago against Hatayspor in 2023.
Meunier to the Mestalla?
Belgian ace Thomas Meunier is a player City would like to bring to the MKM Stadium, but they now face competition from Spanish La Liga giants Valencia. The Tigers haven’t yet given up hope of snaring the experienced international, but the threat of a move to the Mestalla could be a sizeable issue.
No more PGMO
The Professional Game Match Officials, as it was, is no more, with referees in the Premier League and Championship now coming under the umbrella of Professional Game Referees (Pro Ref). That change will come into effect from the start of the new season.
