After a three-week makeover, The National pub, in National Avenue, Hull is welcoming back locals, regulars, and first-timers with a fresh new look but the same friendly vibe people have come to know and love. The pub has had a top-to-bottom revamp, complete with a brighter bar area, fresh new furnishings, and an even comfier dining space.
It comes from the Sizzling Pub & Grill stable, with the group noting The National as “perfect for everything from midweek meals to Sunday roasts with the whole family”. Whether you are catching up over drinks or making memories over dinner, it is the same welcoming local, just with a fresher look.
It is not just the décor getting all the attention. The food is “just as bold and flavour packed as ever”, said Sizzling, with crowd-pleasers such as the Honey Clucker, the Crispy Sweet Chilli Chicken, and the mighty Pork Tomahawk all back on the menu, with some new dishes to savour.
Stuart Bamford, general manager at The National, said: “We couldn’t be more excited to show off the pub’s new look. It’s been amazing seeing guests walk in and instantly feel at home.
“Whether you’re popping in to watch the big game, grabbing a bite with the kids, or just catching up over a drink, we’ve kept everything you love about the place – with a bit of extra sizzle. The National has a strong emphasis on community spirit.
“It’s a close-knit network of people where everyone seems to know each other, and it’s nice to be able to give something back. We’re incredibly proud of our hard-working staff, who are a huge part of what makes this place special.”
The venue is introducing a range of new events designed to bring people together throughout the week. Thursday evenings will now feature a community quiz night, while Saturdays will showcase live entertainment, creating a lively weekend atmosphere for guests of all ages.
Alongside the entertainment programme, the pub is launching a brand-new menu, including its upcoming “Sunday Best” offering, aimed at delivering a fresh take on the traditional Sunday dining experience. Drink promotions are also being introduced through a new Monday Club initiative, offering customers discounted pints at the start of the week.
The pub also offers kids-eat-for-£1 with every purchase of an adult’s main meal, every Monday. With new events, improved facilities, and family-friendly offers, The National hopes to continue building on its reputation as a welcoming hub for the local community.
