People are being encouraged to “normalise” death and get their affairs in order at a series of free drop-in events taking place in Hull.
The city council will run its Get Your Wishes in Order sessions throughout July, with people encouraged to leave clear instructions for loved ones.
Attendees will be offered folders to record instructions, including songs they would like to be played or colours they would like worn at any service.
Councillor Ted Dolman, portfolio holder for communities and community safety, said: “The death of a loved one is difficult enough without having to try to figure out what they might have wanted for their funeral service.”
The council said its campaign “aims to normalise the process of talking about death, which can help ensure that people have clear instructions for what should happen when they are gone”.

The A5-sized folders are also available for collection from the receptions of Chanterlands Crematorium and Priory Woods Cemetery.
