The centre has had a solid season to date.
Andy Last believes Hull FC have seen plenty of growth in Davy Litten this year – and the numbers back it up.
Litten is the team’s best for both carries and metres made in 2026, adding more venom and punch to his runs. To date, he has made 191 carries and 1,294 metres – the ninth best in the whole Super League competition. He also has nine tries for good measure in 13 games to date.
Capable of busting the line, Litten is bearing fruit from a tough off-season in the gym, adding some size onto what was already a tall and sturdy frame.
And for Last, also outlining the defensive improvements, it bodes well for a player who holds the ambition to be the best centre in the competition one day.
“I think defensively, his decision-making has got a lot better,” Last told Hull Live. “He’s constantly asking for feedback and wants to do his extras.
“He will be the first to admit he still needs to tackle a little bit better. He’s got those long limbs and sometimes he doesn’t quite get his feet in there and occasionally he doesn’t quite get as much body in front as he needs to, but he’s really come on.
“He trains hard, he’s diligent, and he wants to get better. He knows he’s not the finished article, but I think he’s added a little bit more to the attacking side of his game. He looks strong when he carries the ball now. He’s bending the line back and he’s got his rewards for ripping it up in the gym.
“When he comes into the room, he’s a big body. He’s six foot four. He’s got age on his side. He’s a great kid and I think his biggest strength is the attitude in which he turns up every week.
“He’s always ready to play, and he plays with lots of energy. He’s embracing those challenges, which are coming week in, week out now, like when he’s going up against the Harry Robertsons or the Krystian Mappalangi’s, or who he’s up against this week, Umlya Hanley; he’ll embrace that challenge.
“He wants to compete against the best and showcase that he’s capable of holding his own against those players.”
Litten is fit to play at Leigh despite a bruising encounter at Bradford Bulls last weekend, but by Last’s admission, he’s not the ‘King of Boothferry’ just yet.
The now 23-year-old was one of five Hull players to leave Odsal banged up following what ended up being a tough and costly defeat. In fact, Litten, who picked up knocks to his leg and shoulder, is the only one of those players set to face Leigh, with Brad Fash, Ligi Sao, Lewis Martin, and Amir Bourouh all ruled out. Yusuf Aydin is also suspended.
“It’s a big boost,” Last said on Litten’s inclusion. “It’ll take a little bit more than that for Davy not to play for his beloved Hull FC. He is certainly one that puts his body on the line every week.
“He trains like it’s his last training session every time he steps onto the field. He’ll rip in again. He’s going to pad up and have a jab – it shows that toughness.
“He’s a West Hull lad, isn’t he – a Boothferry boy. He tries to tell everyone he’s the king of Boothferry but he’s the prince, as I’m the king of Boothferry.
“We have a laugh and a joke about that but he is a tough kid. He’s someone who I have got a lot of time for. He loves the club. He’s a very affectious character and he trains with a lot of energy and a lot of enthusiasm. And he plays with it. He wears his heart on his sleeve. He’ll be going out and looking to give his best for the Black and Whites.”
