The Tigers are preparing for next weekend’s game against Southampton
Hull City have thanked supporters for their ongoing patience as they wait for details surrounding the upcoming play-off final against Southampton next weekend. Three days on from securing their place in the play-off final, no details have been released surrounding the game with the EFL putting any announcements on hold.
City were prepped to release ticket information after Monday’s 2-0 win at Millwall, but were asked to hold off by the EFL. The Saints, who are currently being investigated after being charged for breaching spying rules, published initial ticket guidance on Wednesday following their win over Middlesbrough.
An independent commission has now taken on the case and is working through the details of the charge, which Southampton were hit by ahead of the first leg against Boro.
After being alerted to that decision from Southampton, the EFL requested that it be removed from their website and social media channels immediately, and it was.
It’s believed the Tigers were preparing to announce sales windows on Thursday morning, which had been agreed by Wembley Stadium and the EFL, before the EFL again requested they hold off, and the club are awaiting sign-off from the EFL, who are also keen to have details published as soon as possible.
There is hope that more information will be released regarding tickets on Friday, but that remains unclear at this stage as the panel continue to go through their own processes in regard to the investigation.

Frustration is understandably building amongst supporters who have not yet been given a confirmed kick-off time for the world’s biggest game, which is currently scheduled to take place next Saturday, May 23, though given the complexity of the investigation, a fresh date can’t be ruled out at this stage, with Hull Live told that all options are being considered in terms of dealing with the situation. A postponement of the game remains unlikely at this stage, but is an option being considered.
“Thank you for your patience while we await confirmation of the kick-off time for our Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final,” City wrote in a statement.
“We know many of you have contacted the Ticket Office in recent days, and we wanted to provide supporters with as much information as possible ahead of sales opening.
“Full details, including confirmed sale dates and kick-off time, will be communicated in due course. Until then, we kindly ask supporters to refrain from contacting the Ticket Office while final details are being confirmed. We appreciate your continued patience and support.”
The kick-off time for the game, should it go ahead as planned next Saturday, has not yet been confirmed, though it’s believed that it has no bearing on the current investigation. The conversations around the kick-off time are with ‘stakeholders’, which include the police, both clubs and worldwide television broadcasters. Hull Live understands that it is more likely to be 4pm or 4:30pm, but that has not been confirmed.
Meanwhile, City have been allocated the east end of Wembley Stadium, a good luck omen as it is the same end they were allocated in their previous two play-off final victories.
