City face Millwall in the first of two legs at the MKM Stadium on Friday night
Hull City captain Lewie Coyle says he’s excited at the chance to take his hometown club into Friday night’s play-off semi-final first leg against Millwall with the dressing room that he will lead.
City launch their bid to secure a place in the Wembley final against the Lions at the MKM Stadium, before the return meeting at The Den on Monday evening.
Coyle feels that the strength of character in the Tigers’ dressing room will go a long way to help Sergej Jakirovic’s men take a giant step towards achieving their Premier League dream.
“A play-off position secured, and a chance. That’s all this team needs over two legs is a chance,” Coyle told Hull Live as his side gears up for a big night under the MKM Stadium lights.

“I back this side against anyone over two legs, and again, they’re the games you want to play in as a kid, the big games when the stakes are high. To go into it with this group of men by my side, I’m excited to say the least.
“If you want to do it, and no one’s just going to hand you that opportunity and say, ‘there’s your place in the final’, so it’s down to this group of players and group of staff to put us right and go into the game with full belief that over two legs we can secure our place.”
City’s fans played their part in the 2-1 win over Norwich City on the final day last Saturday, with the MKM Stadium as noisy as it has been for years, and the skipper wants more of the same on Friday evening.
“So nice to hear the stadium like that,” he continued. “I think that helps massively, of course it does, you’d be lying if you said it didn’t. Fans always play a huge part in football matches, and we’ll certainly need them in full voice again on Friday.”
