All games kick off at 12:30pm on Saturday
Hull City will go into the final day of the season of the football season knowing full well what they need to do if they’re to climb back into the play-offs.
City have to better Wrexham’s result to stand any chance of regaining the place they lost a couple of weeks ago, but the race for the play-offs is just one facet of what promises to be a captivating final day of a thrilling campaign on Saturday lunchtime.
Sergej Jakirovic’s men are perched seventh in the Championship on 70 points, with Wrexham a place above them on goal difference, but that advantage stands at just one.
Derby County are a point further back on 69, though their goal difference is superior, so should they draw and both City and Wrexham lose, then it would be the Rams heading into the play-offs.
The race for the final play-off berth will captivate the imagination of Wrexham, City and Derby fans, while the finale for the top two is also fascinating, with it set to provide huge drama and tension.
Southampton’s 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town on Tuesday night ruled the Saints out of the automatic promotion race and denied the Tractor Boys an instant return to the Premier League.
That draw means Millwall and Middlesbrough still have a chance of sealing a final-day promotion, though Kieran McKenna’s Tractor Boys are firmly in the driving seat, with a point advantage and a superior goal difference.
For City, Boro remaining in with a shot of automatic promotion is good news, given they will be at full strength against Wrexham, with the Tigers needing Phil Parkinson’s men to drop points.
What we do know is that Saturday will be dramatic, and the tension at stadiums across the league will be palpable.
Sky’s feature games are as follows
Ipswich Town vs QPR
Millwall vs Oxford United
Wrexham vs Middlesbrough
All other games, including City vs Norwich City and Derby County vs Sheffield United, will all be broadcast on Sky Sports +
