City know their play-off hopes are hanging by a thread going into the final weekend

Sergej Jakirovic will not be in the MKM Stadium dugout on Saturday, when Hull City go in search of a victory that could yet see them finish inside the top six.

Saturday’s disappointing 2-1 loss at Charlton Athletic condemned City to a sixth game without victory, with their last coming before the March international break.

Jakirovic was dismissed at Leicester City last Tuesday, after being given a red card by referee Thomas Kirk for believing the Tigers boss was sarcastically clapping the official, when in fact he says he was actually trying to encourage his side to go again.

After conversations with the FA, it was decided Jakirovic would serve his second one-match touchline ban this Saturday, when Norwich City arrive at the MKM Stadium for the Championship finale.

Assistant boss Marko Salatovic watched the weekend loss at The Valley from the stands after he picked up a third yellow card at the King Power Stadium, and he will oversee matters on Saturday from the touchline, along with Dean Holden.

Despite his ban, Jakirovic will still be able to deliver his pre-match and half-time team talks as normal, and will be able to communicate with his staff during the game. He’ll also be able to conduct media duties.

“Marko was in the stands because of three yellow cards, so he was banned,” the Croatian boss told Hull Live. “He will be on the bench against Norwich City on Saturday, so we will swap. I had to choose which game I would be at in the stands for. I chose that last one because Marko was in the stands, so it’s better than the next one.”
