First travels to fifth for Easter Monday’s late game in the Championship promotion race

Frank Lampard says Coventry City cannot afford to take Hull City lightly when they travel to the MKM Stadium tonight.

The Sky Blues are just eight points from sealing promotion to the Premier League after beating Derby County 3-2 on Friday night.

Coventry are 12 points clear of third place in the Championship with only six games to go, but will arrive at the MKM Stadium to face a City side chasing a place in the play-offs.

City have surprised many with their form this season, winning 20 games so far and have a four-point cushion to the chasing pack.

“Yeah, good team,” Lampard said on Sky Sports. “I watched bits of their game (at Oxford). Credit to them, what they’ve done to get in the position they’re in, cos maybe they wouldn’t have been fancied to be there at the start of the season.

“We’ve got to respect them. We’ve got to respect them. We’re not getting ahead of ourselves. The fans can get excited, but we’ve got a job to do until the job is done. It feels good at the minute.

“It’s a big game for us there, there’s no doubt about it. When you see the result earlier, when you know the position in the league, I know that these moments at this point in the season, it’s easy to have a dud night and not for the want of trying, just for the tension of it.

The lads have shown a lot and another one comes on Monday. We can’t relax and wait and see and start looking at other results and trying to get over the line slowly. We’ve gotta take care of our business and Hull’s (City) gonna be a tough match.”
