Hull KR’s Mikey Lewis is set to take centre stage once again on Good Friday.
Fresh off his best display of the Super League season, Willie Peters has thrown down the gauntlet to star man Mikey Lewis ahead of Good Friday’s blockbuster Hull derby.
The maverick half-back ran riot in the 52-10 demolition of St Helens, scoring a hat-trick and laying on three more in a dazzling display. It also marked Hull KR’s first Super League home game of the 2026 campaign – and they made it one to remember.
They now head into Rivals Round brimming with confidence after a nine-try blitz, with Friday’s clash also set to be the 250th Hull derby between the fierce city rivals.
Bragging rights are on the line – and Peters has challenged his star man to deliver again, while also shining a light on the unseen parts of his performance that proved just as crucial in last week’s win.
“As a team, we’ve taken a little bit of time to find our feet. We’ve spoken about the start we’ve had, but now we’re into the season and I want to see more of that from Mikey,” head coach Peters said.
“We know what he’s capable of. He’s a superstar of the game over here.
“Mikey is still growing as a player and a young man, and I’m proud of where he’s going off the field.
“I want to keep seeing him work hard on his game – he’s doing a lot of extras now, and he understands to improve, he needs to do that.
“What I enjoyed last week was mainly around the little things people may not see – kick pressure, chasing back to make tackles, diving on loose balls. We value that highly, and there’s no coincidence his attack was so effective because it comes on the back of that.”
The Robins have won each of their last five Super League matches against the Black and Whites by double-digit margins, with a sell-out crowd confirmed at Sewell Group Craven Park.
