The powerful defender is eyeing a strong end to the season with the Tigers
Semi Ajayi admits the timing of his hamstring injury in the final seconds of the Africa Cup of Nations was a major disappointment, but he is looking forward to the final weeks of the season after returning to Hull City action.
Ajayi had played a key role in Nigeria’s surge to the final four of the winter tournament in Morocco, before disaster struck in added time of the third and fourth placed play-off penalty shoot-out win over Egypt on January 17.
Just as the seconds ticked by, Ajayi’s hamstring let him down, and he was ruled out of action for eight league games before he made his comeback in the 3-1 home loss to Millwall.

The blow was his second of the season, after succumbing to a similar problem after the opening day draw at Coventry City, but he hopes those issues are behind him as he looks to help the Tigers to a strong finish to the Championship season and secure a place in the play-offs.
“The timing of it was awful,” the Nigerian told Hull Live. “It was like two minutes to go in the third-place play-off, and I’d played every minute of every game pretty much before that.
“Yeah, it was tough to take. At the time I didn’t think it was even anything serious so when I got the scan results back and it was something a little bit more severe than I initially expected it was tough to take, but I just had to channel that frustration into my rehab and making sure that I did everything I could to come back as quickly and as strong as possible.
“Thankfully, I’ve been able to do that, so now I’m just looking forward to finishing the season on a high note and really positively.”
