Phase two of Hull City Council’s £6m Community Highstreets project has begun

  1. A series of public engagement events is to be held as a second phase of the investment project, covering four areas in Hull, is announced. These will be Elmbridge Parade, Annandale Road; south side of Endike Lane, between Langtoft Grove and Moy Court; Goodwin Parade, Walker Street and The Quadrant.
  2. The citywide scheme aims to reinvigorate high streets through enhancing quality of place, environmental performance, accessibility, community services and satisfaction, as well as increasing footfall and reducing shop vacancy rates. Phase one was launched in 2025 and saw positive public engagement in several areas across the city – Barham Road, Greenwich Avenue, Holderness Road/Woodford, Chanterlands Avenue, Grampian Way, Anlaby Road/Coltman Street and Gipsyville.
  3. The council’s Community Highstreets project team will be hosting further in-person events from this week to gather the thoughts and priorities of residents, business owners and other community members on future plans for each area. These sessions are to be held as follows:
  4. Goodwin Parade/Walker Street – Goodwin Trust Hub, The Octagon, Walker Street, HU3 2RA, Wednesday, March 18, 1pm to 3pm and Wednesday, April 15, 10am to noon.
  5. Endike Lane – Unity in Community Hub, 501 Endike Lane, HU6 8AQ, Thursday, March 19, 9am to 11.30am.
  6. The Quadrant – Eternal Benefits, 104-106 The Quadrant, HU6 8NS, Monday, March 23, 10am to 1pm.
  7. Businesses will also have flyers, posters and paper surveys delivered. Engagement for Elmbridge Parade, Annandale Road, has already been completed.
  8. Cllr Ted Dolman, portfolio holder for communities at the council, said: “We have already had lots of positive engagement with stakeholders during phase one of the Community Highstreets project. This is an opportunity for different communities to have a direct impact on the future of their area during phase two.
  9. “This project demonstrates the council’s commitment to investment in our high streets and making Hull a better place to live, work and visit. I urge the public to have their say and I look forward to hearing their feedback.”
  10. The public consultation launched on Monday, March 16 and will continue for six weeks.
