Hull KR picked up their first win of the 2026 Super League season.

Willie Peters admitted he felt some relief after watching his Hull KR side secure their first Super League win of the season.

The head coach had demanded a response from the Robins following their Las Vegas nightmare, where they were thumped 58-6 by Leeds Rhinos in Sin City.

Back on English soil, they produced a clinical and professional display to cruise past an injury-hit Huddersfield Giants side 32-6 and collect their first points of the year.

“Obviously there’s a bit of relief to finally get some points,” Peters said.

“We wanted to compete hard today and improve our defence, and we thought we did that.

“We wanted to narrow our focus to defence – that was everything for us. We believe that if our defence is solid, the points will come off the back of that. We let far too many tries in down the middle last week, so it was an area we wanted to tighten up.

“Huddersfield certainly didn’t go away, and it wasn’t the perfect performance from us – but it was a step in the right direction.”

The defending champions were on top from the outset when Oliver Gildart crossed inside four minutes, proving too strong for his opposite number on the outside.

Tyrone May was influential in the victory, providing further assists for Tom Davies and Joe Burgess to establish a 16-0 half-time lead.

Mikey Lewis then ran the show in the second half, grabbing a double as he repeatedly took on the defensive line. Davies, who opened his account for the new Super League season in the first half, added another two tries after the break.

Peters added: “We knew what we’d get from Huddersfield. They’re having their fair share of injuries, which isn’t great for them, but they didn’t go away and I admire that.

“We had to find something, and I’m glad we did.”
