Hull FC were deservedly beaten.
Hull FC produced a below-par performance against York Knights on Friday night – and got exactly what they deserved, with the Super League newcomers running out 17-16 winners at the MKM Stadium. Here are the ratings.
Davy Litten – Made an uncharacteristic error from a kick early on, but recovered to score Hull’s first try. There were further mistakes in awful wet weather conditions but the stand in full-back kept going. 5
Harvey Barron – An electric burst of speed to burst down the right edge to score before half-time. But made a costly error for York’s levelling try in the second half in a carry that brought with it an ankle injury. He left the field in some discomfort. 4
Zak Hardaker – Looked more comfortable after overcoming an ankle injury he clearly battled through against Bradford. 5
Arthur Romano – Some strong carries from the Frenchmen. Did his best. 5
Lewis Martin – Worked hard and carried well. Scored late on with a well taken finish off a Cade Cust kick. 5
Jake Arthur – Involved in both of Hull’s first half tries. Missed Aidan Sezer, and ultimately struggled at times in a game that got away from FC. 5
Aidan Sezer – Left the field early on with an eye injury. Came back on briefly but didn’t return after half time. N/A
Liam Knight – It’s not clicking for Hull’s pack right now. There’s more in Knight – and he’ll know it. 4
Amir Bourouh – The hooker struggled to click going forward and given Hull’s inability to get a strong foothold right now, it’s not hard to see why. 4
Harvie Hill – His first stint was interrupted with a HIA. But it didn’t stop his impact. The prop was one of Hull’s best again. 6
Connor Bailey – Got a start and up against his former club, he worked hard. Good hands to put Barron in the clear for the winger’s try. But that was as good as it got. 5
Jed Cartwright – Suffered what looks to be another hamstring injury. The back rower limped off the field after his sin bin. 4
Yusuf Aydin – Big defensive work rate as always – especially when York had the early ball. 5
John Asiata – A first appearance of the season off the bench, entering the field in the second half. He did what he could and tried to salvage the game late on. 6
Cade Cust – Added a spark off the bench. Hull’s most fluent moments were with Cust at hooker. 5
Sam Lisone – Some big carries. Tried to have an impact off the bench and ran hard. A second half break almost salvaged something for Hull. 5
Brad Fash – Thrown on early in the game after Hill’s HIA. Worked hard. 5
