Hull KR fans took over Fremont Street, and now it’s over to Willie Peters’ all-conquering squad.
Hull KR have all the fire they’ll ever need – and then some – to light up Las Vegas after thousands of red and white diehards turned Fremont Street into a full-blown Rovers carnival.
Willie Peters’ champions were roared on by a sea of supporters at rugby league’s glitzy Fremont Street takeover.
All six teams – Hull KR, Leeds Rhinos, Newcastle Knights, North Queensland Cowboys, Canterbury Bulldogs and St George Illawarra Dragons – strutted down the red carpet. It was Leeds who first soaked up the electric atmosphere, stepping onto the big stage in front of a jaw-dropping 16,000-strong crowd.
Then came the all-conquering Rovers, led by skipper Elliot Minchella holding the World Club Challenge trophy and Joe Burgess flashing a gold chain as the East Hull outfit lapped up the Vegas spotlight.
And if that wasn’t enough Hollywood glitz, Rovers even flew in Andy Bell – frontman of Erasure – for a spine-tingling moment to sing the club’s anthem.
“It was the craziest thing I’ve ever done,” said Rovers star Jez Litten. “Unbelievable. It’s great for the sport and we’re so happy to be a part of it.
“It’s another big occasion we get to play in. All the boys are pumped for it after last week. This is great to see for the sport, I love it.
“It’s been crazy – hearing the fans sing at Fremont Street, I’ve never seen anything like it. We’re all buzzing.”
The week-long Vegas adventure has given Rovers every ounce of motivation they need to do East Hull – and Super League – proud at Allegiant Stadium.
With around 6,000 supporters making the trip Stateside, it’s now over to the Robins.
“Seeing our owners and board who spend time and money into our club, they deserve it,” Litten added. “All these fans who have supported us over the years, they deserve it. We now need to do our bit on Saturday.”
