City got their season back on track on Tuesday night
Former Manchester United star Dion Dublin believes Hull City are one of the dark horses for promotion in the final months of a gripping Championship season.
After four straight wins had catapulted City to within touching distance of the top two, successive home defeats and a draw had caused some concern amongst supporters.
Sergej Jakirovic’s men returned to form in style on Tuesday night, winning a six-pointer against rivals Derby County in what was an ethralling encounter which finished 4-2 to the hosts.
That result consolidated their place in the top six, with a seven-point gap to the chasing pack. Three of their next four games come against teams directly around them in the race for promotion, with City facing struggling Portsmouth on Saturday before games against Ipswich Town, Millwall and Wrexham.

Each time the Tigers have suffered a mini-blip this season, they’ve responded well and did so again against the Rams, and the Homes Under the Hammer presenter believes City have the ability to click, and therefore, are a dangerous outfit.
Dublin highlighted City’s away form, which is among the best in the Championship, as the Tigers prepare for trips to Portsmouth on Saturday, closely followed by Ipswich Town on Tuesday evening.
“In the last few games, they’ve hit a bit of a brick wall, but I think they’ve won five of their last seven before that. So they have hit a run of form beforehand, a little bit of a blip at the moment,” Dublin told OLBG prior to City’s fine 4-2 win over the Rams.
“You would call them dark horses because when they click, they click, and they tend to click for three, four and five games. They just need a bit more consistency, I think. Away from home is where they have been a little bit better.”
