Humberside Police has increased patrols in the area

A man and a woman have been arrested in Hull following a raid by counter terror police at a property in Morpeth Street yesterday. The pair, both 23, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
Counter terrorism police said “potentially suspicious items” were found and bomb disposal experts were sent in “as a precautionary measure”. Humberside Fire & Rescue Service was also on the scene.
The man and the woman remain in custody for questioning. Humberside Police has increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance to the community.
Police said the arrest was “pre-planned and intelligence led” and there was not believed to be immediate risk to the local community.
A spokesperson for Counter Terrorism Policing North East said: “On Thursday, February 26, officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North East, supported by Humberside Police, arrested two people in Hull.
“The man and woman, both aged 23, have been arrested on suspicion of Conspiracy to Murder contrary to S1(1) of the Criminal Law Act 1977. The man was also arrested for possession of an offensive weapon. They have been taken into custody for questioning.
“We understand that local community may have concerns as a result of this activity. We would like to reassure them that this arrest is pre-planned and intelligence led and there is not believed to be any immediate risk to the local community.
“Following the discovery of potentially suspicious items at the residential address, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) have been called to provide expert advice as a precautionary measure. The fire service has also been in attendance.
“Humberside Police has deployed high visibility patrols in the local area for community reassurance. A search is ongoing at a residential address in Hull in connection with this investigation.”
