Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses or information after the cyclist ‘did not stop at the scene’

Police have today launched an appeal for information after a man was seriously injured when he was hit by a cyclist who allegedly failed to stop at the scene in Bridlington last month. The 53-year-old man was taken to hospital following the incident, which happened between 5pm and 5.30pm on Tuesday, November 11.

Humberside Police said they had reviewed CCTV in the area and are now appealing for anybody who could identify the cyclist to get in touch. Anyone who witnesses the incident, or has dashcam footage, is also asked to come forward.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Officers are appealing for information after a pedestrian was reportedly injured in a collision with a cyclist in Bridlington on Tuesday, 11 November 2025.

“It is reported between 5pm and 5.30pm, a man was walking on Bessingby Railway Bridge on Bessingby Road before he was allegedly involved in a collision with a cyclist.

“The cyclist did not stop at the scene and the pedestrian, a 53-year-old man, was taken to hospital to receive treatment to serious injuries.

“Since the incident was reported, officers have carried out extensive enquiries to establish the circumstances. This has included reviewing CCTV footage, speaking to witnesses, and following up on all available lines of enquiry.

“Despite these efforts, officers have not yet been able to identify the cyclist and are appealing to anyone that may have been in the area around the time and may have witnessed the collision, or has any CCTV or dashcam footage, to get in touch via our non-emergency number 101, quoting log 334 of 11 November 2025.

“Alternatively, information can be reported anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
