KR have confirmed their second signing ahead of the 2027 season

Hull KR have made Australian forward Eddie Hampson their second signing ahead of the 2027 Super League season.

The Robins are entering the start of a new era as Nathan Cayless prepares to take over as head coach and the club are keen to give him the tools needed to make an early impact at Craven Park.

Moala Graham-Taufa was the first signing announced by the club, with the outside back joining from South Sydney Rabbitohs and he has been joined at KR by Hampson.

The back-rower will make the switch to east Hull from Townsville Blackhawks, his hometown club who he made his debut for as a teenager back in 2022.

Including a five-game spell with Newcastle Knights’ reserves, Hampson has made 74 appearances at second string level down under, with 69 of those outings coming with the Blackhawks.

The 23-year-old made 22 appearances for Townsville this season under former Robin Terry Campese and remarkably he scored 11 tries.

He arrives at Craven Park following the departure of Rhyse Martin, who will hang his boots up following the completion of Papua New Guinea’s World Cup campaign.

“I’m really excited to get over. I’ve heard so much about the club and the fans,” Hampson said.

“From what I hear, the fans are a massive part of the club, so I want to come over, earn the team’s trust and make the fans proud too.”

On his second signing as head coach of KR, Cayless said: “Eddie is an explosive second-rower who’s got plenty of speed, is a great tackle-breaker and is a try-scorer.

“He’s also a player who, more often than not, wins his collisions in the middle. He’ll definitely complement the squad we already have.

“I’ve had my eye on Eddie for a while now and he’s been performing consistently for a number of seasons.”
