The veteran has been one of Hull’s best players of the last two years.

Zak Hardaker has wished Hull FC ‘nothing but the best’ for the future ahead of his exit from the club. The 34-year-old is one of many members of the 2026 squad heading on to pastures new next season, signing a two-year deal with fellow Super League side York Knights for 2027 and beyond.

Developing into a cult hero in his two years at Hull, Hardaker, one of the side’s best players over the last two years, was a true favourite amongst the faithful with his fully committed and no-nonsense displays.

He was set to move into a third year at the club next term after an option on his contract was activated earlier this season. However, the security of a longer contract at the Knights proved to be too good to turn down, with Hull allowing the player an early release.

Posting on Instagram, Hardaker, who played 47 games for Hull and scored six tries, has now bid farewell to the club. He wrote: “To the fans and everyone associated with the club, I thank you. I’ve thoroughly had a great two years at this club, but like all good things, sometimes it comes to an end.

“For everyone in Hull accepting me and my family, but more so my kids, I’ll remember always. My two rascals have had a blast also.

“To the staff that I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside, it’s not always been easy, but we had a great time doing it. This year more than ever but to finish on the note we did speaks volumes, and I’m very proud of that.

“Lastly, the boys, thank you. It’s why we play the game. Not just who I’ve played alongside, but your families who are there every week supporting us when we’re on that field and it’s been a privilege to get to know them too.

“Hull will hold a special place in my heart, and I wish FC nothing but the best for the future, but for now, one door shuts, another one opens, and I’m really excited for my next chapter. Come on you ‘ull. Zak.”
