The right-back missed Saturday’s trip to Newcastle United through injury

Sergej Jakirovic expects Brooke Norton-Cuffy to be available for Hull City’s next game against Everton in three weeks’ time.

The right-back, who arrived from Genoa on transfer deadline day has seen limited minutes in a City shirt so far.

Norton-Cuffy made his debut for the Tigers off the bench against Aston Villa but a calf problem ruled him out of what would have been his first start against Sunderland in the Carabao Cup. He returned to the action against Chelsea but his minutes were restricted once more as he stepped off the bench in the 82nd minute to replace Lewie Coyle.

However, Norton-Cuffy was conspicuous by his absence on Saturday at Newcastle United, with the 22-year-old being left out of the action altogether due to a hamstring injury.

Jakirovic has moved to confirm the issue is a minor one, with the tear being considered to be a Grade 1b, meaning it shouldn’t be too long before he is back in training with the Tigers.

“He had some problems on Thursday and then after scan it is a 1b so he is two weeks out unfortunately,” Jakirovic said on the former Arsenal youngster’s absence. “I don’t know what happened, he was OK. In football everything is possible, every day you can get some injuries and unfortunately we were without him.”

The right-back will be keen to feature against Everton on October 11 then as he bids to make his mark in East Yorkshire.

Had he been fit, Norton-Cuffy would likely have been involved for England Under-21s over the international break with the 22-year-old remaining eligible until next summer’s European Championships.
