Charity event is hailed an ‘outstanding success’
More than £55,000 has been raised for medical research by the caravan industry in East Yorkshire. A charity dinner held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Hull was organised by the Hull and East Riding Caravan Manufacturers’ Association (HERCMA) in support of the Daisy Appeal.
Based at Castle Hill Hospital, the Daisy Appeal funds cutting-edge medical research and equipment to improve early and accurate diagnosis of conditions including cancer, heart disease, and dementia. The money raised will go directly toward supporting the charity’s vital work in transforming patient care and outcomes across East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.
HERCMA is made up of ABI, Carnaby, Swift and Willerby and brings together leading figures from the caravan manufacturing sector. Alongside these manufacturers, the dinner brought customers, suppliers and employees together, in a rare and special occasion.
The evening was not only a celebration of the region’s caravan industry but also a testament to the community’s commitment to giving back. The event featured magic by Ben Hanlin and a live charity auction and dinner before guests were entertained by Hull comedian Lucy Beaumont.
Peter Munk, HERCMA chairman, said: “HERCMA is made up of four local major employers and we are committed to the wellbeing of our teams, their families, our supply chain and our wider community. We are incredibly proud to support the work of the Daisy Appeal, what they do for early detection and treatment of heart disease, cancer and dementia is phenomenal.”
The founder of the Daisy Appeal, Professor Nicholas Stafford, said: “The HERCMA charity dinner in support of the Daisy Appeal was an outstanding success, with attendees demonstrating strong commitment to the campaign for a new digital PET‑CT scanner. Funds raised during the evening will make a meaningful contribution toward the purchase of this vital diagnostic equipment, which will enhance the scanning and early detection of cancer, heart disease, and dementia for patients across the region.”
HERCMA continues to champion charitable causes in the region and is committed to supporting initiatives that enhance the lives of local residents. Organisers say the evening would not have been possible without its headline and other sponsors.
