The Tigers take on Newcastle United this afternoon
Sergej Jakirovic has made two changes to his Hull City side to take on Newcastle United this afternoon.
The Tigers will be looking to extend their unbeaten league record this weekend against Matthias Jaissle’s Magpies, who were thumped by Leeds United on Monday night. If they are to avoid defeat ahead of the international break, though, they’ll have to do it without Nobel Mendy.
The centre-back picked up a head injury in the draw with Chelsea last week and misses out due to concussion protocols.
As expected, Lucas Herrington is the man to replace the Senegal international, with the 19-year-old making his first Premier League start.
The only other change comes on the left wing with Sorba Thomas being selected to make his first Premier League start as well.
The Wales international joined the Tigers on deadline day and has come off the bench in each of the last two league games. He’ll be keen to make an impression this afternoon, then, with Elliot Stroud the man to drop out.
Matt Crooks and Regan Slater partner each other in the middle of the park, while Lewie Coyle, Semi Ajayi, John Egan and Ryan Giles make up the five-man backline.
Tim Iroegbunam is named on the bench once more and he’ll be looking to get more minutes after debuting last week at Stamford Bridge.
City remain without Charlie Hughes, Hidemasa Morita and former Magpie Matt Targett through injury.
Hull City : Konstantinos Tzolakis; Lewie Coyle, Semi Ajayi, John Egan, Lucas Herrington, Ryan Giles; Regan Slater, Matt Crooks; Mo Belloumi, Oli McBurnie, Sorba Thomas.
Bench: Dillon Phillips, Joe Gelhardt, Jens Hjerto-Dahl, Elliot Stroud, Paddy McNair, Tim Iroegbunam, Robinio Vaz, Mohamed Ali-Cho, Lucas Gourna-Douath
