Lewis captained the Robins on Friday night at St Helens

Hull KR fans can look forward to seeing a better Mikey Lewis next week following his return to action at St Helens.

That’s according to Willie Peters, who was pleased with the composure and level headedness the stand-off showed at the Brewdog Stadium as he captained a team of young Robins.

Peters rested his entire first-team on Friday night, but Lewis made the decision to play in Merseyside after sitting out of KR’s last three games. Two of those matches were missed through suspension and he was dropped for the game against Toulouse Olympique by the head coach following his disciplinary struggles.

It was an understandable rusty showing against the Saints but having blown off the cobwebs, Peters believes Lewis is in a position to kick on and help KR to a play-off win over Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

“He had moments in the game,” Peters said. “There was some errors and moments there, when you’re a half, you’re going to have errors in your game.

“What I did like was his leadership. Mikey was our captain tonight and I thought he did a great job with that, he took the responsibility and enjoyed it, it helped him stay more composed.

“He hasn’t played for a while, it was his first game back, he was a little bit rusty but no doubt we’ll see a better Mikey next week and it’s a big game for us.

“I did like his mentality, he stayed calm and composed I thought.”
