The Robins face Warrington Wolves next week in the play-offs

Willie Peters wants to see his Hull KR side attack their play-off clash with Warrington Wolves with the same heart and desire the club’s youngsters showed in Friday night.

With a spot in the play-offs already secured the Robins boss switched up his entire squad for the clash with St Helens with six teenagers and six debutants being named in the side.

They ultimately fell to a 36-12 defeat in Merseyside but not without putting up a huge fight, with the young Robins pulling themselves within a score of St Helens before three tries in the last 18 minutes.

Rovers now have a trip to Warrington Wolves next Saturday to look forward to and the winner of that clash at the Halliwell Jones Stadium will progress to within 80 minutes of Old Trafford.

And, while Peters knows his side have a job on their hands having lost to Warrington twice this season already in Super League, he believes they won’t go far wrong if his big hitters can replicate the type of performances his youngsters turned in at the Brewdog Stadium.

“What a great opportunity,” Peters said looking ahead to the club’s eliminator clash. “I felt coming into the game that it would be more likely that we’d play Warrington. I’m really looking forward to it.

“We have an opportunity to go over there and if we play and have the same attitude as what we did tonight then it will go a long way to get the win.

“I want to see the same level of care and I want to see the same level of intensity and want that these guys had tonight and if we do that then we’ll certainly put ourselves in a great position next week.

“No matter whether you’re trying to retain a trophy or win a trophy or it’s two points, you want a certain style and play a certain way. That’s what I’m most proud of tonight because that was Hull KR tonight.

“There’s been patches this year where we haven’t played to the levels we’ve been happy with or proud of. But when you play like that if you get beat, you get beat. I can handle that.

“Next week I just want to make sure we put everything into this finals series and give ourselves every chance. I’m really proud of what the players did tonight and I’m sure that will give us a lot of energy heading into next week.”
