Sleepers bar in Beverley will host its first ever Yorkshire Tea rave with a DJ starting at 8.15am

Old school ravers rejoice! Your perfect event may be coming to Beverley. You may have heard of coffee raves, a new trend sweeping the nation which sees partygoers meeting in the early morning to dance, socialise and sip coffee, all before 9am. Sleepers Bar in Beverley is making the event even more localised and has teamed up with the region’s favourite tea company to deliver Hull’s first ever Yorkshire Tea Rave.

The tagline of the event, taking place on Saturday 26 September, is “Coffee and Rave – The Yorkshire Way”. Operations and marketing manager Harry Bates said: “There’s a new trend going on. It’s all about fitness these days, which is always nice to see. People are enjoying some coffees and teas and not worrying about the late nights, hangovers and expenses.”

The team at Sleepers – which is known for its quirky events – had reached out to its social media followers to see if there was an appetite for an early-morning event. The post had more than 100,000 views and thousands of comments, so they decided to organise a coffee rave, but with a Yorkshire twist.

Harry said: “We had Yorkshire Tea pop in to show us some new stuff. I said we are doing a coffee rave but we’ll do a Yorkshire twist, get their specialist teas and their iced teas out. They are a really friendly, Yorkshire-run business and said they love getting involved with anything to do with Yorkshire. We’ll give everyone a free gift and Yorkshire Tea merchandise. We are trying to get that night-out feeling, free of alcohol, no booze, and to get creative. Sometimes you need dutch courage to dance around, but when everyone’s looking a bit daft, you get that natural high.”

And of course, there will be coffee and soft drinks on tap for those who don’t want tea as their main tipple. Each ticket includes one drink on entry. The kitchen will be open serving bacon butties and other breakfast items, to fuel the dancing.

Evie Perrett from Yorkshire Tea said: “Who says the best parties have to happen after dark? A breakfast rave with a proper brew is a great way to start the day and we were excited to get involved.”

There will be a DJ local to Beverley and a bongo drummer alongside the music, while local influencer Catrina Link will host the event. Doors will open at 7.45am, with the DJ starting to play at 8.15am until about 9am. Everyone gets a free hot drink on arrival and under 16s are welcome and can attend for free. The event is aimed at anyone: families with young children, groups of friends, or people coming solo who want to meet new people. Music will be a mix of newer tunes and old school classics.
