David Akintola says the ‘massive love’ shown to him by Omonoia FC fans and head coach Henning Berg persuaded him to return to the Cypriot outfit.
The winger’s Hull City contract, which had a year to run, was terminated which allowed the 30-year-old to leave the Tigers just 12 months after he arrived.
Akintola played just 22 times for City, following his move from Çaykur Rizespor in August 2025, and was left out of Sergej Jakirovic’s Premier League squad after failing to secure a move away.
That exit has now come and Akintola is back at the club where he spent a few months on loan before coronavirus struck in early 2020.
Former Manchester United and Blackburn defender Berg was in charge then – and is again after his own return in 2025 – and lured the 30-year-old back.
“I am feeling very, very happy to be back here because the fans have always shown me a very genuine love since I was here the last time,” Akintola said.
