Two abandoned cats rescued from a taped-up laundry basket in a “distressing condition” have found a new home – where they will “want for nothing”.

Basil and Hazel were discovered in Weelsby Woods in Grimsby on 19 August, underweight and living with untreated flea allergies, which had left them covered in sores.

After being taken in by Goole and District RSPCA, they have regained weight and have now been rehomed by Catherine Collins, who lives in Beverley.

The 52-year-old said: “We are renowned for spoiling our cats completely. They will want for nothing. They will rule the roost and will have us in line by the end of the week, I’m sure.”

“They’ll get Christmas presents, you name it. They’ll have whatever they want,” she added.
